When a player gets traded or gets in trouble, sporting goods retailers are among the most nervous. If the player is very popular and never plays for the team again, it's a disaster from an inventory standpoint. Retailers have to slash prices to somehow get rid of the useless jerseys.    Read More

When you look at the attendance for these second-tier bowls, you are going to see one thing that's going to be interesting. While you'll still be able to correlate size of fan base to butts in the seats, you'll notice that the bowls that will do better will be the bowls in which at least one of the teams is within a 12-hour drive.   Read More

While I was away on vacation, my producer Tom Rotunno wrote about Anthony Davis and how much he loves Nike. Although Davis said he was the first college and pro athlete to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated in Nikes and that he still had a relationship with Nike, the shoe company told us that he was no longer contractually affiliated with them.    Read More

Listen up, sports marketers. There's no point in hiring a woman athlete to endorse your product and then put so much makeup on them, we don't even know who they are anymore.
